On Saturday, Mel and I spent the afternoon with friends on the Lower East Side.
Beforehand, we went on a 3-mile run (which was a pretty bad idea considering we decided to do this at the hottest time of the day). Then we then grabbed some iced coffees from Starbucks (I’m a Seattle girl, so I gotta stay loyal!) and ventured out.
With temps in the 80s, I decided to whip up a head-to-toe linen outfit. I’m preparing myself for a super hot summer in the city so I’m stocking up on all my linen essentials. Linen is the perfect fabric for the hotter months because it wicks away sweat and instantly cools your body.
However, it is a bit pricey compared to other fabrics, like cotton, but it lasts forever so it’s definitely something to invest in! The more you wash it the softer and cozier it feels.
When I don’t want to spend that much money, I opt for linen blends (like my white t-shirt). It’s not as great as the real thing, but it’ll do!
During a recent trip back home to Seattle, I founded these linen shorts in a khaki color at Aritzia (similar here, here and here). I’ve been waiting for the right moment to wear them and the first super warm day in NYC was an occasion enough. What I love most about these shorts is the belt around the waist that makes that area of my torso look super teeny!
I paired my look with a linen blend boyfriend tee from Old Navy (similar here and here) and tan Franco Sarto sandals (similar here, here and here). This linen outfit has definitely been one of my favorite looks to date. How are you planning on incorporating linen in your spring and summer wardrobe?
